Union Budget 2023 Live: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the last full-fledged Union Budget of the Modi government. The Budget Session of Parliament began on Tuesday and the first part will conclude on 13 February. The Parliament will reconvene on 12 March for the second part of the Budget Session that will conclude on 6 April.

Here are the highlights of the Budget 2023:

- Central Govt to support states to scrap old vehicles
- The Govt. will recruit 38,800 teachers and support staff for 740 Eklavya Model residential schools serving 3.5 lakh tribal students
- The outlay for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is being enhanced by 66% to over ₹79,000 cr
- 50 additional airports, heliports, and advanced landings will be revived for improving air connectivity.
- Centers for Excellence AI will be set up in top educational institutes to make AI work for India 3 centers for excellence
- GOBARDAN scheme is proposed to promote a circular economy. 200 biogas plants will include at investment of ₹10,000 cr

- In cases of failure by MSMEs, 95% of the forfeited amount will be returned to them by the Govt.
- Agri accelerator fund will be set up to encourage agri startups in rural areas.
- Govt to support Hyderabad-based millet institute as centre of excellence.
- Maximum deposit scheme for senior citizens – ₹15 lakh to 30 lakh
- To reclaim unclaimed shares/ dividends, an integrated IT portal will be established.
- National Financial Information Registry to promote credit, facilitate inclusion. NFIR to be designed in consultation with RBI.
- Govt reduces the number of basic custom duty rates on goods other than textiles and agriculture, from 21% to 13%.
