BSNL’s 5G SIM Launch: Key Insights into the Upcoming Rollout of High-Speed Internet in Major Indian Cities and What It Means for Users
Towards the end of July, private telecom operators increased tariffs on their existing recharge offers which gives BSNL a competitive edge as one of the cheapest telecom service providers in the country. With the onset of the Jio era, focus has shifted towards BSNL’s low tariffs along with some promising future developments in 4G and 5G networks.

Recently, BSNL demonstrated the strength of its 5G connectivity by letting Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia conduct a video call for the first time which created a buzz for 5G readiness. There are no set dates for the large-scale availability, although the trial has been popular, and examples of BSNL’s 5G speeds are appearing in the form of videos on popular platforms such as YouTube.

Besides, there was an unofficial video that surfaced online about the unboxing of a BSNL 5G SIM card which claimed to be shot at one of the BSNL centres in Maharashtra. With a SIM card labelled BSNL and 5G, this video has helped build anticipation of 5G even there is no confirmation from the company. Sources indicate that its first pilot runs will be rolled out in important locations in India such as Connaught Place Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, the JNU Campus, Delhi, and other areas. Deployment of these trials will offer a preview of the faster connectivity that BSNL’s 5G network is capable of offering a prelude to the full-scale launch of the service in the near future.
