BJP to File Complaint Against AAP’s Horse-Trading Allegations
BJP to file complaint with ACB over AAP's horse-trading allegations. Kejriwal claims BJP offered Rs 15 crore to AAP members to switch parties.
BJP to File Official Complaint with Anti-Corruption Bureau Over AAP’s Allegations of Horse-Trading and Bribery Ahead of Delhi Assembly Election Results
The BJP has now taken a decision to file a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for serious allegations of horse-trading. AAP had claimed that BJP was trying to bribe its candidates before the Delhi Assembly election results, which raised political tensions in the capital.
The controversy emerged when AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused BJP of providing them with hefty monetary deals for its candidates. On Thursday, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP was attempting to win over his party members by offering them Rs 15 crore each if they would shift their allegiance. He also stated that 16 AAP candidates received such offers within the last two hours.
Posting on X, Kejriwal wrote, “Some agencies are showing that the abusive party is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls that if they leave AAP and join their party, they will make them ministers and will give Rs. 15 crores to each of them.” And questioned BJP about approaching AAP candidates if they have the majority saying the alleged offer was a means to weaken AAP before the result was declared.
AAP leader Mukesh Ahlawat too came forward and claimed that Kejriwal was not wrong in making his allegations, for he personally had received a call from the representative of the BJP who had promised him money and a ministerial position. On social media, Ahlawat posted a screenshot of the alleged caller’s number, declaring he would never leave AAP. “I received a call from this number. He said that their government is being formed, they will make me a minister and also give 15 crores. ‘Leave AAP and come with us,'” Ahlawat wrote on X. He further confirmed his allegiance to AAP, saying, “The respect that Kejriwal ji and the AAP party have given me, I will not leave my party until my last breath.”
BJP has outright dismissed the allegations and tagged them as a political gimmick to create sympathy before the election results. The party has now vowed to take the law into its hands by filing a complaint in ACB and seeking a formal probe over AAP’s claims. The leaders of the BJP have stated that the allegations are all completely fabricated and are only done for misleading the people and for discrediting the opposition.
The Delhi Assembly elections saw the voters casting their ballots across 70 constituencies on February 5, and the results are scheduled to be announced on February 8. With tensions running high between the two rival parties, the coming days are expected to witness intensified political drama as the allegations and counter-allegations unfold.
