NIA Charges Four in Bengaluru Cafe Blast Linked to ISIS Recruitment and Attack
The NIA has charged four accused with terrorism for carrying out a attack, recruiting extremists, and spreading radical beliefs.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged four people in connection with the explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru on March 1. The individuals charged are Mussavir Hussain Shazib, Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taaha, Maaz Muneer Ahmed, and Muzammil Shareef. They face charges under several laws, including the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. All four were previously arrested and are currently in custody.

The explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), injured nine people and caused extensive damage to the cafe. The NIA investigation revealed that Shazib planted the bomb. Shazib and Taaha had been on the run since 2020 after the Al-Hind terrorist group was broken up. They were arrested 42 days after the cafe explosion in West Bengal.
Shazib and Taaha, from Shivamogga district in Karnataka, were radicalized by ISIS and had planned to travel to ISIS-controlled areas in Syria. They were involved in recruiting other young Muslims to join ISIS, including Maaz Muneer Ahmed and Muzammil Shareef.
The NIA’s investigation also found that Shazib and Taaha used fake Indian SIM cards and opened bank accounts with forged Indian and Bangladeshi documents they obtained from the Dark Web. Taaha was connected to an ex-convict named Shoaib Ahmed Mirza and Mohammed Shaheed Faisal, who is wanted in another case involving the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba in Bengaluru. T.
