Bengaluru Traffic Advisory: Diversions and Restrictions in Malleswaram for Krishna Janmashtami 2024; Alternate Routes and Infrastructure Projects Announced
The traffic restrictions and diversions have been imposed by the Bengaluru Traffic Police ahead of the Krishna Janmashtami festival that falls on Sunday and Monday within the precincts of the Malleswaram traffic police station. Since many devotees are likely to troop to the ISKCON Temple, the police are using these measures to control flow of traffic.

Temporary diversion for vehicles going to West of Chord Road from Soap Factory Junction in the direction of Mahalakshmi Metro Station exist. They should take a turn to Dr. Rajkumar Road, proceed towards the 10th Cross, take another right turn and again wait for the signal to get into the Chord Road at 1st Block in Rajajinagar. Also, no auto-rickshaw or cab is allowed to pick up or drop passenger en-route this portion of Chord Road and drivers have been advised to use the other carriageway.

Similarly, the Karnataka Cabinet has cleared two mega projects to be advanced by Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar which would solve traffic and other related urban issues in Bengaluru. The first project is ‘Underground Vehicular Tunnel in Twin Tube Mode’, starting from Esteem Mall in Hebbal and terminating at Silk Board Junction to dismantle traffic congestion in the city. The second project ‘Sky Deck’ 250-feet tall tower has also been approved but the location is pending. These projects combined with the new centralised control system for street lights are clear indicators of the efforts being made by the state government to enhance the infrastructure of Bengaluru.
