Bengal Woman Molested While Sleeping Beside Ailing Son In Kolkata Govt Hospital; BJP Reacts
In a government-run hospital in Kolkata, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a health worker while she slept with her sick child. This occurred amid widespread outrage over the rape and death of a trainee doctor at the city’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
As per the complaint, Tanay Pal (26), who was functioning as a ward boy in the medical institution, entered the children’s ward and reportedly inappropriately touched and abused the child’s mother.
According to the victim’s complaint file, the incident occurred in the children’s ward of Kolkata’s Institute of Child Health (ICH), where her child was admitted and was receiving treatment.

After taking notice of the situation, the Kolkata Police filed a formal complaint under the pertinent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and detained the defendants. Pal’s phone was also taken by the police, who then forwarded it for forensic analysis. He was later brought before a local court, which ordered him into the custody of the police.
Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s IT cell and in-charge of West Bengal, took aim at the state administration led by Mamata Banerjee over the incident. He claimed that women are unsafe at West Bengal government hospitals.
All this while Mamata Banerjee refuses to accept Junior Doctors’ demand for improved security in West Bengal’s government-run hospitals,” he wrote in a post on X.
