Floods Ravage Beijing and Tianjin:
Thousands of people were evacuated to shelters in suburban Beijing, Tianjin, and Zhuozhou. Muddy water flooded streets in Beijing’s Mentougou district, washing away cars. Emergency workers used bulldozers to clear streets while residents navigated through mud. The flooding caused 11 deaths in Beijing and nine deaths in Hebei province. Power was knocked out for around 60,000 homes in Fangshan district. In Zhuozhou, 125,000 people from high-risk areas were moved to shelters. President Xi Jinping ordered local governments to prioritize rescue efforts and minimize losses.

Summer Floods in China:
Tianjin reported evacuating 35,000 people near the Yongding River. Some areas received as much as 500 millimeters (nearly 20 inches) of rain since Saturday, leading to rivers surpassing warning levels. China has faced unusually severe summer flooding in different regions, with thousands of people evacuated and lives lost. The deadliest floods in recent history occurred in 1998, claiming 4,150 lives, while 2021 saw over 300 deaths in Henan province due to record rainfall and flooding.
