One accused is still missing

In a strong condemnation of the incident, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday directed Director General of Police GP Singh to promptly travel to Dhing in response to the growing unrest. His directive came as hundreds of protesters took to the streets on Friday morning, demanding the immediate arrest of the suspects and strict action against those involved in the brutal crime. The alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl has sparked widespread outrage and sorrow within the community, leading various organizations to unite in protest. In a significant show of solidarity, several groups called for a bandh in Dhing town, effectively shutting down the area as a way to voice their condemnation of the atrocity. The bandh, backed by a wide array of organizations, mirrors the profound sense of fear and anger felt by the community. The protesters, unified in their demand for justice, have made it clear that they will not be satisfied until the perpetrators are apprehended and held accountable. This urgent call for action has placed immense pressure on law enforcement to not only catch those responsible but also to prevent such incidents in the future.

According to sources, the police have apprehended two suspects in connection with the incident, while one accused is still missing.
