Anurag Thakur on NYT: Serves lies under the garb of neutrality
Union Minister Anurag Thakur on NYT article accusing Modi govt of for the decline of press freedom in India. Thakur has castigated NYT for its opinion piece on freedom of the press in Kashmir.
New York Times, NYT has recently published its piece on freedom of the press in Kashmir.
He further said, “Freedom of Press in India is as sacrosanct as other fundamental rights,” and has remarked on the bias of the foreign media against India and PM Modi, “Some foreign media nourishing a grudge against India and our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have long been systematically trying to peddle lies about our democracy and pleuritic (sic) society.”
Thakur’s comments came after the US-based newspaper published a piece on the alleged curbs on information flow in Kashmir.
He calls the act by the foreign media as a conspiracy against the Indian government by criticising it as “Blatant lies”.
“Democracy in India and We the people are very matured and we don’t need to learn the grammar of democracy from such agenda-driven media”, said the I&B minister.
New York Times had long back dropped all pretensions of neutrality while publishing anything about India. NYT's so called opinion piece on freedom of press in Kashmir is mischievous & fictitious published w/ a sole motive to spread a propaganda about India…

He also declared that such acts of defamation against India by any foreign media or be it one’s own citizens would not be tolerated. He did not leave a chance here to attack the recent comments by Rahul Gandhi in London about the Modi government and democracy. He said, “Congress should clarify its motive. Going abroad and defaming one’s own country is the culture of Congress and Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi must stop spreading hate.
