Air Marshal Singh is currently serving as the Vice Chief of the IAF, a role he took on in February 2023. He has had a long and successful career in the Indian Air Force, having joined in 1984 as a fighter pilot. Over the years, he has gained a lot of experience and held many important positions.
He has been part of the fighter stream since he was commissioned on December 21, 1984. His career has seen him take on various leadership roles, including serving as the Flight Commander and Commanding Officer of a MiG-27 squadron. He also held the role of Air Officer Commanding at an airbase, responsible for overseeing operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of the base.
Before becoming the Vice Chief, Air Marshal Singh was in charge of the Central Air Command (CAC), one of the key operational commands in the IAF. He has also served as the Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command, contributing to the strategic planning and execution of operations in that region.
Air Marshal Singh is highly educated in military studies. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, and the National Defence College. These prestigious institutions have played a significant role in shaping his military leadership and strategic thinking.
With his extensive experience and leadership skills, Air Marshal Singh is expected to bring strong guidance to the Indian Air Force. His appointment as the next Chief of the IAF comes at an important time, as the IAF continues to modernize and adapt to new challenges in air defense and national security.
