A Historic Aviation Deal: Air India’s Purchase of Boeing Aircraft
Air India’s Purchase of Boeing Aircraft is being termed as one of the most iconic and historic aviation deals. Air India, the iconic Indian airline company has recently placed an order of over 200 American-made aircrafts with Boeing. In an official statement released by The US President Joe Biden, it said “This purchase will support over one million American jobs across 44 states, and many will not require a four-year college degree.”
US-India Economic Partnership
As given in the statement, “this announcement also reflects the strength of the U.S.-India economic partnership.” President Biden also said that he looks forward to “deepening” the partnership with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “we continue to confront shared global challenges—creating a more secure and prosperous future for all of our citizens.”
The order is not just a deepening of economic relationship, but also gives India a huge soft power as this order will help in creating jobs in the US. This is probably the first time a developing nation is playing such a vital role in the economy of a developed nation. The diplomatic significance of this deal should not be lost.
Glad to speak with @POTUS @JoeBiden. Excellent discussion to review the ongoing and new initiatives to further deepen India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership. We welcome the landmark @airindiain–@Boeing agreement which will help create new opportunities in both countries.

Why is this a big deal for Air India?
Air India was recently acquired by the Tata Group in the hopes to give the debt ridden airline a hope and makeover. This purchase of the aircrafts is a huge deal for the Tata owned Air India. These aircrafts will also help the Tata Group in expanding the reach of Air India and probably altering the face of Indian skies.
Air India has not only inked an order with Boeing, but also placed an order of 250 aircrafts with Airbus, the French Aerospace company. PM Narendra Modi tweets- “I thank my friend @EmmanuelMacron for joining me at the launch of an important partnership between @airindia and @Airbus that will further strengthen the Indian aviation sector and create opportunities in both nations. This reflects the robust Indo- French Strategic Partnership.”

In latest new, Air India also re-launched its non-stop flight from New York to Mumbai which had been suspended in 2019. This is another feather in the cap for the Indian Airlines.

It looks like the Indian plan to expand the air sector, increase its capacity and fulfill its dream to take every Indian to the sky, might actually come true.
