Navratri is the festival, which lasts for nine days and is dedicated to the nine forms of goddess. The third of nine days in Navratri is dedicated to Maa Chandraghanta, the third form of Durga, who symbolizes pacifism, valorousness and courage.

On Navratri Day 3 this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought the blessings of Maa Chandraghanta. He has been spotted after frequently engaging in the religious activities and the promoting of India’s traditions and spiritual values. When PM Modi offered prayers to Chandraghanta Mata who is known as the warrior goddess and who protects her devotees, he boasted the spirit of the country.

Maa Chandraghanta is described as the warrior goddess who has moon on her forehead in form of a bell which denoting the significance of sound. She rides a tiger and having ten hands holding weapons always willing and capable to fight the powers of wrong doings. It is thought that to those who worship her, fearlessness, clear vision and release from anxieties hold sway.

In his message to the nation, PM Narendra Modi said that he prayed Maa Chandraghanta bless all the people to bring them happiness along with courage and wealth in their lives. His prayers are equally symbolic of the Navratri period which signifies that devotees unite to worship the divine feminine power for building up strength for personal and national development.

With crores of Indians fasting, performing rituals, and praying, PM Modi’s gesture signifies the importance of the festival as an occasion for introspection and strengthening one’s resolve.
