Hariyali Teej is another widely celebrated festival of the Hindu calendar that occurs on Tritiya Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the Shravan month. This year it is celebrated on August 7, 2024. Celebrated in the honor of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, this day, people observe fast and perform several rituals which are followed to shower happiness in married life and to sort out bitterness between couples.

The Significance of Hariyali Teej

Teej fast is of huge importance in Sanatan Dharma especially the Hariyali teej. It is also enjoyed with equal enthusiasm as Kajari Teej and Hartalika Teej festivals. In Hinduism, there is a tradition that a married woman should not eat anything for the sake of her husband’s good health. It also celebrates the day when Lord Shiva reunited with Goddess Parvati and there is a belief that their worship brings unflagging prosperity and happiness to married couples.

Auspicious Donations on Hariyali Teej

It is also noteworthy that on Hariyali Teej, the gift offerings or daan are the most profoundly sacred. These include:
• Clothes: It is cultural to donate cloths particularly those that are new or in good condition since doing so is believed to attract wealth and happiness.
• Suhaag Items: Trinkets reflecting marital state including bangles, sindoor, bindi sometimes are also offered to give long marital life.
• Rice: It is customary to provide rice for the family as it symbolizes fertility, success, and wealth.
• Lamps: Giving away lamps symbolizes washing away of evil and ushering in of good light into a human life.
• Cucumber: This is only offered on Hariyali Teej and is said to eliminate hatred in relationships as well as enhance togetherness.

Timing and Rituals of Hariyali Teej 2024

The Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of the Sawan month falls in the year 2024 will commence on 06-Aug-2024 at 19: 52 and cease at 22:00 PM on 07-Aug-2024. Sanatan Dharma claims that the fast should be held on the seventh of August, 2024. The best time that is suggested to visit this temple is early morning between 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and in the evening between 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
