Timings of Dussehra 2024

The favorable period to celebrate Dussehra starts with Vijay Muhurat, which is actually believed the most appropriate time for performing spiritual activities. In 2024, the Vijay Muhurat is expected to occur between 2:01 PM and 2:47 PM. At this stage people offer prayer services and do worship inorder to celebrate the triumph of the good or godly forces.

History of Dussehra

There are two main myths of celebration of Dussehra in the filed. In northern India it is celebrated chiefly to mark the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana, which is described in the Ramayana. The exact narrative is the story of Lord Rama for the battle of Ramcharit with ten-headed Ravana and defeated him to free his wife, Sita.

In other part of India especially in eastern and southern state Dussehra is celebrated as victory of goddess Durga over Mahishasur after Puja. This battle stands for fertile womb, Order and justice over darkness and evil.

In some parts of the state, devotees then take the idols of Goddess Durga for the immersion in rivers or lakes after celebrating Durga Puja.
