Children’s Day 2024: Why India Celebrates Jawaharlal Nehru’s Birthday as a Tribute to Childhood
The children’s day 2024 also known as Bal Diwas is celebrated every year on 14th November to celebrate the birthday of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Fine, very attached to the young people, Nehru considered that young people were the hope for the future and the future of a just and inclusive society. Although the Children’s Day 2024 in India acknowledges special love that Nehru had children it also reminds the country about its obligation to empower and protect children rights.
It was only that till 1964 when Nehru passed away, Children’s Day in India was marked on November 20 along with the Universal Children’s Day. Yet after his death it was planned that November 14 would be dedicated to children in form of a Children’s Day in honor of Nehru’s vision and work. He was otherwise called “Chacha Nehru” because of his friendly relationship with children thus regarding them as the strength of a nation.

Nehru was passionate for children education welfare and rights from his childhood till his last breath. He was actively involved in the formation of polices which was conducive to education for all children, because he used to believe that an educated generation will definitely build India’s future. The person promoted the creation of educational systems and his liberal views defined the direction in which India is moving children protection.
The Children’s Day 2024 celebration in India is also a celebration and various schools arrange programs, events and other activities for the students. Thus such celebrations tend to promote the notion of young people development, creativity and support moral values of tolerance and togetherness. In addition, the day is a wakeup call of concern on the welfare of children in as much as what they are entitled to as basic rights such as education, protection against exploitation and freedom.
