5 Extra precautions to take when you visit Red Zone areas

Here are some guidelines you should follow if you can’t avoid going to red zone area

Coronavirus lockdown is keeping most of us inside their house but there are some professionals who have to go outside for their work. These professionals are health workers, police, other people related to essential services. Apart from it, we all have to go outside to buy grocery at some point. Today, we will discuss what extra precautions we should take while visiting a red zone area.

It is not necessary that a Coronavirus infected patient will always infect the person who comes in close proximity. Even if they affect, the newly infected has to develop symptoms, which not everyone does. But if someone starts feeling unwell, the Health Ministry advises self-isolation at their home. You need to go into self-isolation even though you are having mild symptoms such as headaches, slight runny nose, low-grade fever until you become well.

Contact the healthcare provider in advance

If you develop cough, fever, difficulty in breathing, seek medical advice instantly. These could happen due to a respiratory infection or other serious condition. Contact the healthcare providers in advance and tell them of any recent travel or contact with travellers, so that the provider can quickly direct you to the right health facility/centre.

If you do not have any symptoms, then the usual guidelines of government apply on you. If you are going out to collect or buy supplies then wear a mask. Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based sanitizer, or wash them with water and soap. Both these are believed to kill the virus that may have developed on your hands by destroying the fatty envelope that characterizes viruses.

When you are outdoors, you should maintain at least 1-metre distance from others, especially if someone is sneezing or coughing. Various health-related agencies and institutions like CDC, WHO have accepted that COVID-19 spreads itself droplets, which are released in abundance when someone sneezes or cough.
