Renault’s new-gen Duster returns to India in 2025 with updated design, features, and engines
Renault is set to bring back the popular Duster SUV to India, with plans for an official debut around Diwali 2025. This revival has generated excitement among car enthusiasts, as the Duster, first launched in India in 2013, was the country’s first C-segment mid-size SUV. Unfortunately, it was discontinued last year due to low demand, but Renault is now ready to introduce an all-new version.

Recently, a heavily camouflaged test version of the new-gen Duster was spotted on Indian roads in Kerala, marking the first time it’s been seen in India. While full design details are not clear from the spy images, experts believe the India-spec Duster will look much like its international counterpart. The third-generation Duster, based on Renault’s Bigster concept from 2021, is already on sale in other markets, including Turkey, where it’s offered under both the Renault and Dacia brands. India missed the second-generation model, so the 2025 release will skip straight to this latest version.

The new Duster will be built on Renault’s CMF-B platform and retains the rugged appearance of the original model. It features modern design elements like sleek LED headlamps, Y-shaped daytime running lights, boxy wheel arches, and a slim front grille. The SUV’s bold look is enhanced with roof rails, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, and cladding on the lower body. Other details include rear door handles on the C-pillar and a floating roof effect thanks to a blacked-out pillar.

Inside, the Duster will focus on a driver-friendly design with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment screen. Additional features include wireless charging, smartphone connectivity, a six-speaker audio system, and advanced driver-assistance features.
The new-gen Duster will be offered internationally with three engine options: a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine (120 hp), a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine (140 hp), and a powerful 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine (170 hp) with mild hybrid and flex-fuel compatibility. This 1.3-liter version is the strongest in the Duster lineup yet. The SUV will also come in a seven-seater version, called the Bigster, to add more variety to the range.
