Notably, ST- Segment Elevation Myrocardial Infraction, run by cardiologists in Tamil Nadu will be looking after the project.

As per reports, STEMI India has published their results in Journal of the American Medical Association. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is expected to make it a part of the national programme. The reports further added that the scientists of ICMR are already in talks with 18 more states to adopt this programme.

The STEMI India Modealhas shown a drastic reduction cardiac events and in mortality rates in the implemetati0n phase when compared to the pre- implementation phase in Tamil Nadu.

Interestingly, as cost effectiveness analysis of World Health Organization, it indicated that STEMI India is cost effective and efficacious when compared to the no intervention case. Notably, the programme is expected to get funded by the state government. The states are expected to prepare a project implementation plan under National Health Mission along with costing of the project for its implementation in their respective states.

ICMR and The Non Communicable Disease Cell in India will also provide their support in these activities. The STEMI India will also provide training and guidance to use STEMI Kit to the paramedics and staff in the hospitals.
Do you know there are over 60million heart patients in India? And over 2 million people get cardiac arrest every year.
