Congress criticized Sushma Swaraj, on misleading nation on 39 abducted Indians

Sushma Swaraj the External Affairs Minister has faced sharp criticism in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, with the Congress MPs further demanding to know the fate of 39 of the Indians kidnapped by the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq in the year 2014.

“The External Affairs Minister has misled the Parliament. She is even misleding the entire nation. Two years ago, some 40 people had been abducted by the IS in Iraq. Most of them belonged to Punjab. Others were from Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal. Out of those people one boy, Harjit Masih, hailing from district, Gurdaspur, has escaped from the IS and said he had witnessed that the rest were killed in front of him.

But the external minister has said that the government had six major sources who have further informed that they are alive. Since then, two years have been passed, yet we do not know what has happened to them,” Partap Singh Bajwa said. Mr. Bajwa found the support from Ambika Soni, who rose to further support his position.

He also demanded all-party delegation, should be sent to Iraq and inquire about them, and if any case they are alive then bring them back, otherwise tell the truth to their families.

The critical observations from the Opposition came after Swaraj had announced that the three men from Punjab had been further secured in Libya.

Swaraj has also tweeted that, they have established contact with those three men from Punjab, and they are 900 km away from Tripoli.

The announcement, however, had some sort of opposite effect as the Opposition further highlighted the case of 39 Indians who are missing since the last two years.
