Curfew, restrictions continue to haunt Kashmir for 27th day
In Jammu and Kashmir, the curfew continued in Anantnag town while the restrictions under Section 144 will remain in force in the Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts today.
The section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of the 1973 empowers a magistrate to further prohibit an assembly of more than ten people in an area.

The Dr. Farooq the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar Lone has said that the curfew-like restrictions under Section 144 will now continue in areas under five old city police stations and also the areas under Batmaloo and Maisuma police stations of up-town Srinagar.
Uttam Chand the DIG Police North Kashmir has said there will be no curfew or any further restrictions in North Kashmir districts.
The valley has been suffering ever since Burhan Wani the Hizbul Mujahideen commander was killed in an encounter by some security forces on July 8.
