Synapses! A mystery
Human brain has a memory capacity , which is ten times more than hitherto believed, new research indicates.
A group of researchers from US institutions, including the Salk Institute, MIT, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of California, San Diego found that connections between brain cells, called synapses, vary in size much else than previously thought and continue to adjust the size.
This adds to the processing power of the brain greatly.
Our memories and thoughts are the result of patterns of electrical and chemical activity in the brain.
A key part of the activity that occurs , when the branches of neurons, like the power cord, interact in some crosses, known as synapses. A “wire” output (axon) of a neuron is connected to a ‘wire’ input (a dendrite) of a second neuron.
