A recent survey has revealed a shocking truth about the Punjab state. The authorities have found out that Punjab enjoys its drugs. A lot of people in Punjab are addicted to drugs and heroin.
According to AIIMS research Punjab gets a lot of drugs from Pakistan, which include heroin of worth Rs. 6,500 crore.
Previously, it was assumed that the entire heroin that comes from Pakistan goes to Delhi but a study by the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre changed all the assumption. Most of it goes to Punjab.
The survey also indicates much higher number of injecting drug users in Punjab that clearly states the threat of an explosive epidemic of HIV in Punjab.
