First dengue vaccine introduced in Mexico
French Manufacturer Sanofi said today that first ever vaccine against dengue fever which affects up to 400 million people per year has been introduced in Mexico.
The head of the company’s vaccine division Charmeil also added, “This vaccine could potentially become a blockbuster and generate more than a billion dollars in revenue for the French pharmaceutical company.”
According to World Health Organization, dengue kills 22,000 people per year and it can trigger a crippling fever along with muscle and joint pain and there is no cure of it.
From last many years dengue has become endemic in more than 100 countries. Sanofi Pasteur had requested authorization to push vaccines in 20 countries.
