Instinctive people more moral: Study
University of Missouri, USA has recently conducted a study on ‘Acting on Instinct’, a part of psychological research.
Though this area of psychology has not really been studied, Sarah Ward, a psychology doctoral candidate here led the study.
‘Intuition’, or ‘gut instinct’ is explained in psychology as a ability to comprehend something instantly, as a reflex action, without having to think about it.
We all use this faculty, as we have experienced while driving a car for instance, when we automatically apply breaks, or accelerate according to the situation.
That said, study of intuition in moral situations had not been really studied so far.
However, as per the study conducted on over one hundred participants, using various scenarios, Ward got conclusive data confirming that people who work more with their instincts, tended to be more moral in their decisions.
