Delhi metro will soon install screen doors on platforms
Keeping the safety of passengers in mind and to stop the increasing numbers of suicides and attempt of suicides, Delhi metro will soon install platform screen doors in metro stations.
The work of installation of PSD will start from 1st December. Currently, only airport line has such doors. Till the end of year, DMRC wants to install six PSD on yellow line.
According to a report, platform screen doors will be installed at Central Secretariat, Rajeev Chowk, Kashmere gate, New Delhi, Chawadi Bazar, and Chandini Chowk by the end of this year. Among all these, Chawadi bazaar will be the first station to get a PSD on the yellow line.
The doors will also help metro officials, preventing the cases of suicides. CISF had asked the DMRC to install CCTV cameras at the end of platform, after 17 suicides and 49 suicides attempt cases in 2012.
The height of PSD will be 1.7 m. The contract has been awarded to a consortium of Korean and Indian firms.
