While fishing in the Aegean sea, two Turkish fishermen Recap Everan and Cenap Gumran spotted a family in distress as the boat carrying them had capsized.
Acting fast, they quickly hoisted a child up to their vessel using a pole, and then reached out and picked up the toddler, whom they thought to be dead initially, as the child was cold, and frothing at the mouth.
However, soon to everyone’s immense surprise and joy, they heard “He is alive! He is alive! My God, he is alive!”. The child was then helped to cough to release water from his lungs, and wrapped in a blanket.
The child, whose name is Hasan survived, offered a glimmer of hope in this seemingly never ending Syrian crisis, which has torn a nation asunder, and made millions homeless.
