Amitav Ghosh, the well renowned writer who has authored some bestselling books like ‘The Sea of Poppies’, ‘The Glass Palace’, ‘The Shadow Lines’ and many more has said that he will not be returning his Sahitya Akademi award, which he won in 1990.
The current political scenario has made many writers in the past few week return their awards, but , Ghosh feels that we should be standing against the ones running the Akademi and not the institution itself.
Ghosh’s view on this is topic is new and different from what the other writers have been feeling, and it might just bring about a change in people’s perspective and also preserving the sanctity of the institution.
