Declining a plea by religious groups, Justice U D Salvi of the National Green Tribunal dismissed a plea asking for a tax exemption on sale of fire crackers on Diwali, said that the NGT’s only concern is environment.
The plea seeking exemptions was filed by a NGO called Ojasvi. The plaintiff also claimed that bursting crackers releases sulphur and cleans the air rather than pollute it.
