China harnesses the mighty Brahmaputra
China activated the World’s highest and largest such dam in yesterday. The dam called Zam Hydropower Station is capable of delivering approx. 2.5 Billion Kwh of electricity annually.
The dam has been built at a cost of $1.5Billion in Gyaca, Tibet, and will meet the energy requirements of that region.
Concerns have been raised about India’s water supply from the Brahamaputra river being affected, and replying to this, a Chiniese Foreign Ministry spokesperson gave a enigmatic reply and said, “We will take into consideration the concerns of the Indian side and will remain in contact with them.”
