Happy Birthday Big B!
Amitabh Bachhan, the super star, who became a cult figure celebrates his birthday today. Born to Poet Harivansh Rai and Teji Bachhan in Allahbad in 1942, who knew this ‘Chora Ganga Kinare Wala’ would redefine Indian cinema.
His fans have shared his ups, his highs, his downs, and his spectacular rise, like the proverbial phoenix, not voyeuristically, but empathically. There is something about him that you cannot help but love.
Starting off as a employee of Agency house Duncans in Kolkata, he soon migrated to Bombay (now Mumbai). After a bit of struggle, took off with 7 Hindustani, and then gave super duper memorable hits like Deewar, Kabhi Kabhi, Laawaris, Sholay, Mr Natwarlal, Silsila, and countless others.
His accident in ‘Coolie’ saw a phenomenon like never before. The whole nation prayed for his recovery. His health soon bounced back. However his career took a nosedive in the 1990s.
This did not deter him, and his humility, which has been his second nature came to his aid. He soon re-appeared in films gaining success. However, his big break came when he hosted ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, a TV show. Maybe for the first time, audiences got to see the real Amitabh, as he emoted with the participants. This again made him the darling of the nation, and then there was no looking back.
We at oneworldnews.com take this opportunity to Wish and Bless Amitabh Bachhan, truly ‘Big B’ a very Happy Birthday, with many more to come. Like the song from a hindi movie goes “Tum jio hazaron saal…saal ke din hon pachas hazaar….” (May you live to be a thousand, with each year having fifty thousand days)
