The eighth planet of our solar system, Neptune was discovered today in year 1846. It was discovered by a German Astronomer Johann Gotfried Galle.
It is 2.7 billion miles away from the Earth and four times bigger than Earth.
Neptune is similar in composition to Uranus, and both have compositions that differ from those of the large gas giants, Jupiter and Saturn.
