The stylized show had influenced a pop culture of people wearing their baseball caps backwards. It evolved the acceptance of hip- hop music through Will Smith, The Fresh Prince.

The show challenged the viewers to understand more about African Americans than its standard characterization of being black. However, it created new avenues for network televisions to explore and exploit the African American market.
