ITALY OPENS ARMS FOR FOREIGN ARTS
Welcome news for foreign Arts Directors when the Italian government invited twenty new directors from different national museums and also changed the European procedure.
A new law was also enacted wherein an international selection was launched. Out of the twenty selected directors, seven are non Italian being from Germany, France, etc. which has attracted a lot of debate since such a step has never been taken before.
Journalists, politicians alike are talking about the issue targeting this step as an ‘invasion’ to the nation while some are accepting it as a welcome and much needed change for European nations.
Though widely being criticized by art curators and critics, this move has been taken keeping in mind the situations of museums becoming too rigid and dull.
