Assam leads India in Road Safety
Assam has a growing car market in the North Eastern Region and it’s decision to improve the standard of road safety in growing metropolis such as Guwahati. It has decided to restrict the sale of some of the popular models of the Auto industry after a recent crash test conducted NACP failed.
The coming Puja holidays around the corner, it has brought further bad news for Maruti Alto and Swift, Hyundai i10, Tata NANO and Ford Figo are some of the odd 140 vehicles, which are common on the Indian roads.
Many of these 1500 kg cars failed to follow the Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) tests which are a standard in global markets, which Brazil also follows.
The car industry saw a minimal growth in single digits the first quarter of this year after coming out from a slow decline within the last two years. According to SIAM, India is planning to implement a strict policy around 2017 to meet these frontal crash test norms.
