Glass Paint, an Energy Challenge
The Sun’s harsh rays can affect our beloved cars or homes if left unattended. It would show a shade of yellow tint and can cause the material to corrode. We would depend on our extensive use of organic paints to control the ultraviolet rays of the Sun.
According to the scientists, who are developing the glass paint funded by the US Navy, they have created a durable compound with the right optical properties when sprayed onto a surface. It can become water resistant and is inorganic.
The paint has shown to expand and contract with metal surfaces and has prevented from cracking during testing.
The pigments when mix with the silicate compound, gives the coating an ability to bounce sunlight off and be able to radiate the same air temperature, unlike organic paints. It would provide a wide range of applications to lowering our energy use.
