Discovery of Helium
It was on this very day, 18th August in the year 1868 when the first evidence for existence of Helium was observed during a solar eclipse by Jules Jannsen.
147 years into the future, Helium is indispensable to man and has a wide variety of applications like cryogenics, arc welding, deep sea diving oxygen cylinders, lifting hot air balloons and many others.
Sadly, Helium is a finite source since it is the second lightest element, it readily escapes into the space.
