Oldest Known Copy of The Holy Quran found in least expected Place
The oldest surviving text of the Quran was kept undetected for almost half a century in the University of Birmingham bounded with leaves of a similar manuscript.
Tests were conducted to determine the age of the Manuscript. To the surprise and astonishment of all concerned, the age was determined at 1370 years. The report is said to be very reliable with 95% accuracy.
It was written around the founding of Islam and the person who wrote could have been someone who knew the Prophet Muhammad or heard him preach.
The manuscripts written in beautiful and legible Hijazi – an early form of Arabic. Containing parts of Suras (chapters) 18 to 20. They will go on display in the Barber Institute in Birmingham in October.
