THE MARTIAN
THE MARTIAN
It seems like science-fiction is ‘the formula’ to make a remarkable film. Be it Interstellar, Guardians of the Galaxy, Sunshine and the like, film makers have gone up and beyond to develop fresh perspectives on this futurism genre. That is what one feels when they see the first trailer of Ridley Scott’s The Martian.
The story revolves around an astronaut Mark Watney, who during a manned mission to Mars, is stuck in a destructive storm due to which he is left behind when the rest of his team vacates the planet and head back to Earth. It is his struggle to revive his body and keep himself alive till his team down under decides to bring him back. But with the red planet being 140 miles away from home, time lapse and news of his death doing rounds, will his team really go out of the way and risk it to bring their fellow cadet back?
Having made three sci-fi films already, namely Alien, Blade Runner and Prometheus, Scott is all set to give his audience another one from the league, The Martian; with a promise that it is just getting better. The film is adapted from the 2011 novel The Martian written by Andy Weir and the production has been taken care of by Simon Kinberg.
The film has Matt Damon as Mark Watney and Jessica Chastain as Melissa Lewis in lead roles and is set to hit theatres on October 2nd, 2015. Let us hope this space odyssey fairs well amongst the public and Ridley Scott adds one more to his blockbuster sci-fi collection.
