‘DIL DHADAKNE DO’ PRESS CONFERENCE
Of dapper boys and elegant chics, the Gurgaon Ice Skating hub, Iskate (Ambience Mall) saw a star studded event in an interaction between the ensemble cast of Dil Dhadakne Do and the media. Fans of all ages were gathered in numbers to cheer on for their favourite celebrities who included the graceful Shefali Shah, the elegant Priyanka Chopra and the charming Anushka Sharma along with the handsome Anil Kapoor, the complete package Farhan Akhtar and the effortlessly confident Ranveer Singh.

Directed by Zoya Akhtar and jointly produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, Dil Dhadakne Do is a fam-dram which depicts an affluent but dysfunctional Punjabi family, The Mehras, who leave for a holiday and set sail on a cruise which is where the Mehra children (Ranveer and Priyanka) meet Farhan and Anushka. Shot in beautiful locations across the world like Turkey, Tunisia, France, Spain and Italy, this movie is sure to take viewers on a virtual vacation across Europe.
Interaction began with Anushka Sharma throwing some light on the film
We asked Priyanka Chopra about the film and her character in it and what made her sign the movie after her previous works that were more inclined toward being women-centric. She said, “All the work that I do is always creatively driven and so is this film. The movie will reach out to every person in a family because it comes out with a strong message that how it is very important for individuality to stand out within a family unit, something that we end up always forgetting. And even in this film Zoya has very carefully woven my character, Aisha, who always seeks approval from her parents even though she is a brilliant self-made entrepreneur, the only ambition she is expected to have is to be a good married woman. So through this film, my character will talk about how women should be allowed to do more than that. Coming from a Punjabi family myself, I can say that this film is fun, quirky and the family in it is exactly like each one of our families are.”

The film puts light on the romance between Ranveer and Anushka and how the trailers have already gotten people talk about the duo. Talking about their chemistry on screen, Anushka said, “Ranveer and I have share a very warm bond as we know each other since a very long time. He started his career in a film with me (Band Baja Baarat) which was his first film, so I’ve always felt very protective about him. But I do believe that scripts and characters are what bring out chemistry. Zoya has given not just us, but the two other couples as well, a wonderful well written script. As far as Ranveer is concerned, I love working with him because he is such a touch and go entertainment, he can be a whole variety of channels let alone a show.”

Shefali Shah, who will be seen in the movie playing the mother of Ranveer (Kabir) and Priyanka (Aisha) was asked what she felt about the role. She said, “I have my own apprehensions. Although, the relationship I share with these two in the film is very different from what I share with my children in reality but I believe that once a mother, always a mother. It was not easy being the skeleton of this character in my mind and heart but I had a wonderful team working on our costumes and look which made it easier.”

Usually, films are shot in various locations, but this one is solely shot in a cruise that sails through different places throughout. We asked the cast about the new experience and Ranveer replied, “The experience was unique, fun and thrilling, mostly because there was no studio and we were on a ship which is like a floating hotel. One day we open our eyes we are in Barcelona and the next day it’s either Tunisia or Rome or Florence and so on. The family in this film is on a holiday but we too felt like we were vacationing. The film has taken a lot of effort, hard work, and love. So when you go and watch it, you’ll feel it all.”
Well, all is said and done. The ensemble and effervescent cast along with the suave locations in it is set to blow you out. The film is set to release on 5th June, this Friday. Good luck to the cast and meanwhile, Let the Heart Be!
