Google India today announced the launch of new affordable Chromebooks for India along with launch of Chromebooks for Education and Chrome OS for businesses. The range of Chromebooks for consumers includes:
• The XOLO Chromebook, will be available in the next few days at Snapdeal, from Rs 12999.
• The Nexian Air Chromebook, featuring arugged splash proof construction,is now available from Amazon at from Rs 12999.
• And in the coming months,the latest units from ASUS including the Chromebook Flip and C201 and Samsung will be available from local retailers.
These Chromebooks have the facility of automatic updates which safeguards your device from malware, sandboxing wherein each webpage and application runs in a restricted environment which basically means that if you are directed to an infected page, your other applications and webpages stay safe. However, if some malware escapes the sandbox the Chromebook is still protected since when you start the Chromebook it self-checks itself through Verified Boot and repairs the malware. Apart from all this Chromebooks have Data Encryption that allows automatic storage of data on cloud plus Recovery mode which helps you to retrieve information lost on device.
Superfast to boot up with built insecurity and virus protection,Chromebooks also come with Google Apps for Education which make it easy to create, learn and collaborate. We will focus on both private and public sector and the device would be available in market prices however the management console would cost 80% less for the schools as compared to businesses. As far as training is concerned, the teachers would be trained by Google Education Group and other content would be provided by our content partners like YouTube and so on. With Google for Education, we are focusing on preparing students and channelising students towards their career.”
