Festival of colors and Joy: Holi
During our hectic work schedule we hardly get time to relax and rejuvenate ourselves, right? At times it even becomes difficult for us to meet our friends and relatives but festivals are the perfect times to get revitalized from our monotonous routine.
Yes, here comes the festival of Holi and of course another chance to enjoy with our near and dear ones. Apart from being one of the many cultural festivals of India, there is a significant story behind its celebration.
People play holi to celebrate the victory of good over evil. Holika (A community bonfire) is burnt on the eve of Holi that signifies the power of truth. Then in morning people enjoy by playing colors.
Apart from its religious significant Holi is the festival of fun, bliss and delight. As festival is around the corner markets are overloaded with different types of ‘Pichkaris’ (Water guns) which you can’t resist to buy for your kids.
You will also find mouth watering Gujiyas (A type of sweetmeat) that are made especially in Holi. There are different types of vibrant colors and a glass of tasty Thandhai (A cool drink made by Crushing poppy seeds, almonds milk, saffron and Bhang which is made by crushing leaves of cannabis plant) will let you forget all your worries this Holi.
So, if you haven’t plan anything yet, go ahead plan a Holi party. Invite your friends, relatives and even your enemies because it is the best time forget all your grudges.
There are various variants of colors that one can find in the market from herbal colors to natural colors and pure Chandan (Sandalwood powder) all are available. Apart from them you can also buy colors according to your skin type.
Not only Holi brings happiness and gala time for all of us but do you colors have their own meaning in our life.
Such as if you put red color to someone this signifies your deep love towards them. If you choose green this means you are a well wisher of a person. Whereas if you put blue color that means you want the person should touch pinnacles in his/ her life.
Earlier, the festival use to entail for three days from Holika Dahan to Bhaiya Dooj (A ritual for brothers and sisters) but now scenario has changed. Though, way of celebration has changed but still energy is same and now it has become a global event.
