Chilling winds can make your body shiver but the best warmers for the season are tea, coffee and soup! Taking a sip of coffee and tea in this season is common and of course, you will enjoy more, when you have ample choices such as green tea, tulsi, lemon etc. Apart from this, soups are the best choice to have in winter. Not only are they healthy but hot steamy winter soups are a meal in themselves. A bowl of soup ensures an appropriate quantity of vegetables in your body.

So, here is a list of winter soups you can try to satiate your hunger in this chilly weather.

Dal soup: Yes, they are the best source of proteins. Packed with protein and flavoured cilantro with some fresh ginger will make a perfect choice to stay warm and healthy in winter.

You can use moong dal or masoor dal to prepare it.

Noodle soup: Being a vegetarian, it is difficult to stay warm in the season but if you want you can warm up yourself with just one bowl of noodle soup as it is enough for you. The freshness of lemongrass, the goodness of carrots and the flavour of mushrooms will rejuvenate your taste buds. It is so comforting that you can make it at your home too.

Here is the recipe:

Mix brown rice vinegar and honey with sriracha sauce. Coat tofu over it and reserve the rest of the mixture and grill it for five minutes. Boil the basic stock with garlic paste, spring onions, mushrooms, carrots, red bell pepper and lemongrass for 10 minutes. Put bell paper and carrots to the clear stock leaving lemongrass aside and the spring onions. Add noodles to it and heat until it is done.

Corn Soup: Most of us like it and of course, it is a good source of iron. So, you can anytime make it at home and can enjoy the bliss of hot steamy and tasty soup in your comfort zone.

So, how to go ahead?

Boil corn for 10 minutes then mix it with a paste of garlic and fresh ginger, grind it then add some black pepper and then serve it hot!

How to make it?

  1. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan; add the garlic and green chillies and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
  2. Add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Now, it’s time to add the cabbage and carrots and sauté on a medium flame for 1 minute.
  4. Add the basic vegetable stock, lemon juice, and salt and corn flour-water mixture, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes while stirring occasionally. Add the coriander and mix well.

Serve it hot! It will keep you warm inside on a cold day.
