2014: The Year of the Gamer

 

2014 has been an eventful year in the world of gaming. Throughout the year, PC gamers have witnessed some of the biggest game launches in history. Some games lived up to the expectations and well, some, not that much, but despite it all, PC gamers had something to rejoice throughout the year.

 

Here’s our take on the must play game releases of this year.

 

Titanfall:

Titanfall is a multiplayer- fps by Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts. This highly anticipated game was developed by the same team responsible for the success of the Call of Duty franchise. Titanfall lets the user take control of the ‘pilot’ and their robot-like machines called Titans in a war between six space colonies. This action packed game is fast paced, and packs a lot of eye candy thus is successful in keeping the player hooked on. The game supports an online campaign mode and different multiplayer modes. It has also won 60 different awards at the E3 2013 where it was revealed.

Dark Souls 2:
Dark Souls 2 is the sequel to the 2011 game, Dark Souls and is equally as challenging as its predecessor. This action RPG game by ‘From Software’, is critically acclaimed for its challenging gameplay and keeping the player hooked on. Both, the 2011 and 2014 versions are a must play.

FIFA 15:
The FIFA game series is not a newbie in the world of gaming. This year’s edition of the popular soccer franchise takes it all to a new level. With revamped graphics and an improved physics, FIFA 15 brings something new to the table for FIFA enthusiasts.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity:
The Assassin’s Creed series has been around the block for some time now. Assassin’s Creed Unity is a historical action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft and is the seventh edition of the franchise. Each game is better than the predecessor. With an engrossing storyline and a combination of eye candy and stealth, it really doesn’t get any better than this. The game retains the series’ third-person open world exploration as well as introducing a revamped combat, parkour and stealth system. Assassin’s Creed Unity introduces cooperative multiplayer to the Assassin’s Creed series, letting up to four players engage in narrative-driven missions and explore the open-world map.

Watch Dogs:
Watch Dogs is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The game was first revealed in E3 2012, and had been on the list of every gaming enthusiast since then. The game revolves around Black Hat Hacker Aiden Pearce, a vigilante who can hack into various electronic devices tied to the city’s central operating system. The game is high on action, graphics and storyline with an added touch of future tech which will surely keep you hooked on.

Far Cry 4:
Far Cry has been one of the most revolutionizing games of all time. Another game developed by Ubisoft, the Far Cry 4 follows Ajay Ghale, a young Kyrati-American of Nepali origin finds the country in a state of civil war between Kyrat’s Royal Army (now Northern Nepal Army) led by the country’s eccentric and tyrant king Pagan Min and the Golden Path, a rebel movement fighting to free Kyrat from Min’s oppressive rule. The choices Ajay makes will determine the fate of Kyrat. This story has been inspired by 10 years long Maoist insurgery in Nepal to abolish Gyanendra led Monarchy. Far Cry 4 has a deep and engrossing story line with high stretches of action all in one package.

Wolfenstein The New Order:
What if the Nazi’s had won the World War II? Wolfenstein: The New Order is a game which revolves around such a world. Wolfenstein series has been a major name in the world of gaming and is also widely known for popularizing the First Person Genre. Wolfenstein: The New Order is a must play for all FPS enthusiasts as it packs a lot of action, a lot of war and a lot of future tech weapons.
