Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association (CEAMA) concluded their 35th Annual Function at the Le-Meridian Hotel, New Delhi.

There were many esteemed personalities at the gathering which included, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Planning and Defence, Shri R.S. Anirudh Dhoot, President of CEAMA, initiated his speech by thanking the NDA government. He said that there were three recommendations provided by CEAMA that were accepted by the Finance Minister. He lauded the current government saying that it has acted swiftly for indigenous manufacturing. He also said that the electronic sector has to play a major role in the growth of the defence sector, as every defence equipment has an electronic device in it. He said that he is hopeful that the GST will roll out soon.
Soon Kwon
Sunendra Vachani, the second speaker of the evening, came to the dais to inform the audience about the winner of the Man of the Electronics award. The award was won by Soon Kwon, and Sunendra introduced Soon Kwon by saying that Mr. Kwon is the Managing Director of LG Electronics and that he loves Indian culture and cuisines.
Mr. Soon Kwon said that he was appointed as the M.D. four years ago and that the journey had not been easy. But he said that this period has helped him to learn a great deal.

Manish Sharma came next. He is the president-elect for CEAMA. He said that the electronics sector has to create opportunities by driving growth. He pointed out that the year has not been great but the future looks exciting as a new government is at the helm. He also requested the government to roll out GST to ease out taxation policies.

R. N. Dhoot came in next, he said that consumer sector attracts a very large chunk of FDI. He also said that he has been working closely with CEAMA, to ensure the growth of the sector.

Inderjit Singh came on the dais next, he thanked CEAMA for inviting him and said that in India two sectors stand out in terms of growth, the first being the telecom sector and the second electronics.
For a very long time these two sector have been the driving force for growth and that is laudable. He also felt that this has been a tough year, not just for electronics but for the whole economy. But he seemed optimistic saying the future looks exciting. He put the focus on the ‘Make in India’ campaign, saying that it is a necessity for the consumer as well as for the security of South Asia. He said that the right environment needs to be fostered and the rest will follow.
