The Sikh committee expressed that during 1982 and later during the time of Shri Bhajanlal, the ill-treatment perpetrated on the Sikh Community and the preceding deterioration of their status in the society made the Sikhs of Haryana feel unrecognized and hurt. They believed that for this reason, a special empathic attitude needs to be developed towards the community. The Sikh population in Haryana is about 20 lakhs and they have played an important role in the revolutionary development of the state. A large part of the Haryana population speaks in Punjabi, and hence Punjabi has become the second language of the state. However, in the matters of daily, political and administrative affairs, the Punjabi language isn’t used as much. Therefore, efforts need to be made to develop the status of the language further. The youth of Haryana has still not been swayed by temptations, and hence their true potential must be realized by providing them with employment, self-employment and researching facilities.

To channel the Sikh population in the growth and development of the state of Haryana, their social and economic status needs to be improved.

Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, assured the Sikh committee, that he has the utmost respect for the Sikh community and they can be assured that during his tenure, Sikhs would be provided the honor that they deserve and enough opportunities will be given to them to take initiative in the development of the state.
