BMW launches its new ‘Devil’ in garage: M3 and M4
After launching M6 in April and X3 recently this year, BMW has released two more of their devils, M3 and M4, in India at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, UP. Welcoming the audience, Phillip Von Sahr, the President of BMW Group India said, “It is a great joy to welcome everyone on the launch of M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe in India. BMW is an inspirational luxury car brand in India with delighted customers and unmatched product portfolio. BMW has reserved its momentum in India with its I, X, M series. Being a sporty brand, M stands for a mix philosophy of driving pleasure, high performance, sophisticated sporty gear, aesthetics and supremacy of motor sports.”
The event began by giving all the automobile lovers the roaring sound of speed, the smell created due to the friction of tyres and an enthralling look at all the cars in M series- M6, M5, M3 and M4. And nothing could have been better than launching the sports cum family car M3 and M4 by none other than the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin shared his BMW story and spoke about the similarities between cricket and the BMW cars, “It is really exciting to be around these cars and I drove the M4 and M6 today, it was an amazing experience. I think these cars are quite similar to Cricket because both are balanced, while fielding in cricket you need to be able to change direction and this beautiful feature of handling is available in M4. M6 is quite powerful when it comes to straight line acceleration which is similar to the power needed in batting.”
For Sachin Tendulkar, M stands matchless motor work with magical performance and he believes it is difficult for anyone to match the BMW performance and for Phillip Von Sahr M stands for best engine where the power of their car lies.

“M3 is sedan and M4 is coupe, both have same engine and technology. It can be used for daily purposes and on the sports field too and because it has both the features, the safety measures have also been kept in mind accordingly. BMW is a luxury manufactured car and it has the highest security standards like the cars have- cornering light for better visibility at night, protection from the sides as well to save the lives when one has some accident, Active M Differential, Dynamic Stability Control including M Dynamic mode and Anti-lock breaking system.”
On being questioned why did he choose Sachin Tendulkar to launch the M3 and M4, Phillip said, “He is an authentic person and we had many options like Bollywood stars but Sachin has an amazing history of BMW and also, he is a world renowned sportsman with trustable personality, honesty and someone who can easily explain everything very well. So all this has led to the great collaboration of two successful names- Sachin Tendulkar and BMW.”

Apart from its impressive appearance, BMW M design has special features such as the distinctive M double-bar kidney grill with M emblem and flared wheel arches perfectly matched with aerodynamics features such as Air Curtains and M grills with Air Breathers on the front wings, an integrated rear spoiler and diffuser in the rear apron. Both models come with M carbon roof which reduces their weight and lowers the centre of gravity.
The cars have twin turbo technology and the engine convinces with its output of 317kW/431hp as well as with its tremendous power development which provides more shove in the lower rev ranges. The engine can easily boost the speed from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h.
M4 Coupe
The gear shift has also been designed in a way that it makes it easier to change gears without any loss of traction. The electrically controlled flaps, positioned just before the rear silencer, minimise exhaust backpressure for optimised efficiency and create a distinctively BMW M sound across the entire rev range. For entertainment purposes, both the models have BMW iDrive (the on-board driver information system) with touch controller, BMW navigation professional (integrated Global Positioning System) with 22.35 cm colour display with 3D maps, head-up display with specific views, connectivity through Bluetooth and USB devices and BMW apps. Park Distance Control rear and front along with rear view camera come as standard.
The event concluded by giving an exclusive driving experience of BMW X-series to all the visitors and also gave an opportunity to witness the speed, the style and the racing track of Buddh International Circuit in nothing but M series- M3, M4, M5 and M6. The cars are available at Indian showrooms and prices are as follows- BMW M3- INR 11,980,000 and BMW M4 Coupe- INR 12,180,000.
