Always associated with doing something extreme, Rannvijay Singh is again out to set the bar in his upcoming TV series Pukaar- Call for the Hero. On one fine evening, One World News had the opportunity to have an exclusive interaction with Rannvijay Singh to know about him and his journey to stardom:
How did Roadies happen for you?
Roadies was not planned. I wanted to be an army man, it was my dream and even my family wanted me to do the same but then I badly wanted a bike and roadies was giving me a bike for free. So, that’s how my journey towards and of Roadies began. In roadies, I experienced the civil life and wanted to explore it more, if I wouldn’t have succeeded in the process I would have taken my dream path of joining the army.

Do you think Pukaar would be accepted by the viewers?
We are living in a time where anything new or any experiment is welcomed. The audience is tired of the daily-soap drama and want to see something that gives them a different experience. In fact, I believe that this show would attract more of the youngsters and smart people. Even roadies was a new concept when we speak about shows, but then it was accepted and it has become India’s most watched and longest running television reality show.
Tell us something about your future plans?
My plans are very long and if I think about it I sort of get jitters because so much is going on simultaneously. I am already shooting for the 12th season of Roadies, my movie- Sharafat gayi tel lene, would release on 9th January 2015. I produced and hosted a show called Rann VJ Run, so I am planning and executing its second season. Also, my brother is debuting with a movie which is scheduled to release next year April in which I am also playing a part. So, too much on my plate right now!

What is it that you love and are unable to do these days?
Well, I am not able to ride my bike, which I love to do and also I have not played basket ball since ages. I love adventures but I keep doing it every now and then because of the demand of the shows that I do but then I miss spending time with my family and can you imagine, I have just got married and I haven’t spent time with my wife! Being a movie buff, I miss watching movies!
Have you ever done something heroic in your life?
I don’t want to play my own flute but my mother has told me that I did save a girl from drowning when I couldn’t even speak. I would have been given a bravery award but then doing something like this was quite normal for an army family, but anyway it’s up to you how you want to take it.

Is the transition from television to movies still filled with hurdles?
Living in a technology driven era, I don’t think doing anything is impossible anymore. All that one has to do is work hard and stay dedicated towards their dreams and anything can be achieved. It may take time, but it would happen.
You have acted on silver screen and been on television as well, so what excites you more?
Before Pukaar, I did shows which required me to be myself and I could be as crazy as I wanted to, but then this is completely different as I have to place myself in some other character’s shoes which is completely a product of imagination. So, for me both the experiences have been different and exciting.
You have been the host of a ghost hunting show on MTV and have acted in a horror flick called 3 AM. So, did you have any spooky experiences?
Well, I have had enough experiences that could scare anyone but I try to find logic behind every situation; but I have also faced situations which are really unanswerable. See its simple; if it’s happening and people are feeling it then it exists.

How was your experience of working with Vipul Shah and Raj Babbar?
Vipul Sir is like a family to me now and I and Raj sir share a bonding just like a father and a son. He is very cool, grounded and patient. We would discuss the scene before the shoot and he would guide me on what to do and all. So it’s been an amazing experience.
What would Pukaar offer to the audience?
Everybody wants to do something about the people who are exploiting them. So, probably from Pukaar people would learn something and start fighting against the injustice.
Ending the conversation with us, Rannvijay said that he would want to tell all our readers and his fans to be focused and determined for achieving their goals.
