Mouthwatering sweet delights can sometimes increase your temptations towards desserts. So, running from your craving is not a solution instead of it you can try to curb it.


Every occasion of celebration remains incomplete without sweets and we just can’t deny having a small bite of cake, pastries etc. despite the fact that they can prove hazardous to our health.

Most of us want to reduce the intake of sweets but it is very hard to do so. But according to a study there are ways to curb these temptations.


What can I do?

Don’t compromise with your sleep cycle:


“If you don’t get proper sleep you wake up groggy That makes you more tired and exhausted and this will increase your craving towards sweets, as when we are tired or depressed we tend to eat more chocolate”, says Dr. K.K Rathi, General Physician.


Excess intake of sweets is always associated with our emotional health. Instability in our emotions makes us eat more chocolates, cakes and sweets.


“It is important to work on our relationships and we should never stick to a moment and always keep moving ahead. It is common that when we are undergoing any emotional issues, we like to have more sweets”, says Sumeet Kaur, psychologist

Deficiency of nutrients can make the cravings worse. So, it is important to include good amounts of nutrients in the food. Some nutrients seem to improve blood sugar control including magnesium and B3.


Try to Detox: Detoxing can be a good option to curb your sugar craving. Vegetables such as celery and cucumber help to regulate blood sugar by providing protetin, and also minerals that reduce sugar craving.


“Yes, it is a good option but before going on detox the body immunity should be observed and you should not compromise with your health”, says Dr. Rathi


You can’t completely deny sweets because it will increase your craving even further and a little amount of sweets can be included in your diet.


“I was a chocoholic but eventually I tried to curb my craving towards it so, I tried a simple technique. I added spices to my meal. I tried flavoring food and drinks with vanilla and spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom”, says Rohita Rajan
