The Scheherazade Initiative India
The Scheherazade Initiative is a music concert celebrating the resilience of women and girls in the face of violence. It was held at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, in New Delhi on 4th of November 2014. Proceeds of this year long initiative will benefit the UN Trust Fund to end violence against women. It brought together international leaders in the artistic, musical, corporate and diplomatic world to raise public awareness. There were various artists from across the globe. From Elmira Darvarova on violin to Chandrima Roy Majumdar on the sarod to George Mathew on piano the artists enthralled the audience.

George Mathew introduced the concept to the audience. He is New York based Indian conductor and is the founder of Music for Life International. She hailed the project which aims at endingthe violence against women. Not just physical violence but also social violence. Breakthrough has been responsible for the upliftment of under privileged girls. It was started with “Bell Bajao Campaign”.

There were various artists from across the globe performing. Chandrima Roy Majumdar enthralled the audience with her Sarod. Aude Priya Wacziarg beautifully sang Soprano, which is a type of female classical singing and has the highest vocal range possible in it. The auditorium was full and the audience enjoyed the evening a lot.
