Cinnamon: can lower blood sugar and cholesterol. It helps to keep a check on type 2 diabetes. Experts suggest that including one fourth to half teaspoon daily in the diet is really good for health.
Turmeric: It consists of cur cumin, which doesn’t allow cancer cells to grow and is also very beneficial for the skin. It helps to look younger and rejuvenates the dead cells in the skin. Best results can be seen in winters.
How to include turmeric in your diet:You can take it with milk. Add one fourth tablespoon to the milk and drink it before going to bed.
Oregano: It has the highest antioxidant content of all the fresh culinary herbs. It can be used in soups, pizza sauces etc.
Ginger: It can decrease motion sickness, and can also relieve the swelling associated with arthritis.
“Ginger can also hinder blood clotting and can decrease sicknesses like nausea, they can be used with sweet potato and carrot”, says Dr. Khan
On asking the doctor if excess use of spices can be harmful, he said “Yes, everything in excess can cause some problems, there are certain quantities in which they should be used. Like excess of Ginger can cause stomach irritation so, it is advisable not to use them in high quantities”, says Dr.Khan
In the modern era, availability of fresh spices and herbs is difficult because they are stored in the grocery shop for a long time and they lose their nutritional value. But still you can reap some benefits by utilizing them in the right recipes.
